Happy National Paella Day!

National Paella Day – March 27

There’s no doubt there’s no rice dish as generous, colorful and exciting as paella. The Spanish specialty is meant to be enjoyed in community, and its charming scent indeed invites people to come see what’s cookin’.

Well, paella is so special for so many of us that it has its own holiday. Yes, we celebrate Paella Day every year on March 27, and you know what? This is quite a tasty holiday!

What’s the deal with paella, anyway? Let’s just say paella is special any way you see it. You need special rice and a unique shallow pan to make it. You also get to enjoy the famous ingredients that make paella so vibrant, including piquillo peppers, smoked paprika and the extraordinary saffron threads. What you get is beautifully golden rice with lots of flavor and different textures — a meal worthy of a celebration.

How to celebrate Paella Day? That’s easy; call some friends over, bring out your paella pan and make some steamy paella! Do you need help? Paella is a specialty at Coqui the Chef’s cooking experiences. In fact, we’re hosting a paella cooking class on May 7, 2022, and you don’t want to miss it; you get all the ingredients for paella and a paella recipe. The cooking experience ends with a LIVE flamenco performance straight from Spain!

Of course, you need not wait for Paella Day to treat yourself to this marvelous dish. Once you learn how to prepare it with our Spanish Chef, you’ll want to make paella every weekend!
